FAQs
Can I try on your shoes locally?
We’ve only just received our first shipment of 2,000 pairs of shoes as of April 16, 2025. We are in process of building out our wholesale partners, so if you have a favorite bike shop nearby, please tell them about our shoes and get in touch! When we have a list of partners we’ll make a page showing people where they can try the shoes on locally.
What materials are the shoes made out of?
The Leviathan is made with a microfiber (synthetic leather) upper with mesh lining. The carbon sole is unidirectional carbon fiber with steel cleat nuts accommodating both 2-bolt and 3-bolt cleat styles. The walking pads are TPU. There are no animal products of any kind.
What is your cleat position philosophy?
We have a more rearward cleat position than many other shoes. In the farthest forward position this will be more like what is currently “standard” in cycling shoes in 2025, but in the more rearward position you should be able to get 5-10mm more rearward / mid-foot positioning. Working with a bike fitter? We’d be happy to discuss details with you / them – please send a message, we’d be happy to help.
We’re also working on some nice media with a cleat setup guide and will change this FAQ when we have it ready to go.
You don’t make a size that fits me. Now what?
Please make sure you measure your foot length like we demonstrate in the sizing guide. We need a measurement in millimeters or inches. Shoe sizes are not real measurements, every brand just makes it up and there are no standards. That’s why we ask for actual measurements. Send us a message with your name, address, and measured foot length so we can add you to a list of people who need other sizes. When we make the size you need on a future production run we’ll notify you directly.
Are you going to make a MTB / Gravel shoe? What about a flat-pedal shoe with a rubber sole?
We set out to make a shoe that would work for as many cyclists as possible from day one. That’s why the shoe comes with both 2-bolt slots and 3-bolt cleat nuts. We did a lot of gravel riding during prototyping and testing and the shoes worked great. Yes, we are considering making other variants of our shoes more focused on any of the major cycling disciplines (road, mtb, gravel), though we need success on our first shoe to bring about this future. We DO want to hear your ideas on the specific features those shoes need, so if you feel strongly about these things, please send us a message.
Do your shoes work with cleat shims and wedges?
Yes, we’ve designed our carbon sole to work with standardized parts and solutions the cycling industry already has available for customers. Need help with your exact situation? Send us a message and show us pictures of your current setup and we’d be happy to offer assistance finding a customized solution for you.
I’m concerned about sizing, do you have free exchanges for size?
Yes, we have free exchanges for size for USA customers. To receive an exchange shipping label, send us a message with your measured foot length in millimeters or inches. International customers, please send us a message before ordering if you’re unsure of what size to order.
Why can’t I just order my “normal” shoe size?
The reality is all shoe brands make up their own sizing and there are zero standards to follow. And, the size numbers 10, 11, 12 (American sizing), or 42, 43, 44 (EU sizing), don’t mean anything real in a measurement perspective. So how does our sizing match up to other brands? We have no idea and we suggest you do NOT just purchase a size number without measuring your feet.
I don’t like the shoes and I want to return them, now what?
We aim to make happy customers, but we know our products are not necessarily for everyone. As long as the shoes are in like-new condition, have not been worn outside, cleats have not been bolted onto the shoes, and the shoes haven’t been used on a ride, we’ll accept your return request within 30 days of receiving your order. Please include all printed inserts, tags, and tissue paper back in the box so another customer can receive a like-new experience too. We’ll make you a return shipping label. After we receive the package back we’ll process your return within 10-15 business days for a full refund less the cost of return shipping.
I’m an international customer, do you know what kind of import duties or tariffs I’ll have to pay to receive my order?
2025 is a year like we haven’t seen before and there is a lot of uncertainty in international trade. Please consider a search on your favorite search engine or AI assistant. Our shoes ship under HS code 64021915. Expect VAT in countries that have this, and any import duty or tariff as well.
What shipping service will you use to send me my order?
USA based customers, we use a combination of UPS Sure Post for most orders and USPS Ground Advantage for PO Box holders and extreme remote addresses. Delivery normally takes 1-5 business days. Final delivery may be by either UPS or your USPS Postal Delivery person.
International customers, we use Global Post Standard International. The service advertises it takes 6-10 days in transit, with final delivery by the national postal carrier in your country. So far in our experience the 6-10 days is optimistic at best and some orders have taken even as long as 3-4 weeks to ship, clear customs, and deliver to your final address. We pay for insurance on all international deliveries so even if something happens to your package during transit we are covered.
